Gorgeous and colorful Georgian doors of Ireland’s capital attract people from around the world. What is it about them that makes people want to walk to Dublin City, watch life go by each door, photograph them, and now even wear socks with them?
Some stories say the colours of the doors were a form of a protest. Ireland got its independence only one hundred years ago after eight centuries of being a subject of the British Empire. So when Queen Victoria passed away, it was allegedly decreed that all doors should turn black. However, Irish people painted their doors with all possible colours and surely made a statement.
Another take on the Dublin Doors is that for those who went a bit too far with buzz on an evening, the colored doors help them find their way back home. Mighty craic is guaranteed, as they say.
